Many people who might otherwise consider starting up their own business sometimes avoid such an action simply due to the potential costs and risks that can be associated with such a venture. However, those who have a genuinely good idea, but are worried about borrowing the large amounts of money that may be necessary to ensure all the resources are in place, can still look to set up their businesses in other ways.

For those who are put off by the risks involved, it may simply be ingenuity, perseverance and time that can make such dreams a reality. For others, who don’t mind starting up a company with a negative figure on the books, but simply don’t want to face the financial implications that can arise should things not go according to plan, there are also numerous options.

When it comes to risks, these can be easily reduced simply by incorporating your company. Having a limited liability company will ensure that should you borrow sums of money to set up your company, only your company assets will be in danger should things start to go wrong and you find yourself unable to pay certain money back. This way, your own assets are fully protected and you can start the business knowing that economic and market changes will only affect the company and not you and your family in particular.

On the other hand, it is still entirely possible to set up a company without having to borrow those large sums of money in the first place. The actual setting up of a company can cost very little if you are willing to put in the time and effort for free, in your spare time, whilst you are starting to make a name for yourself. Should you not need to buy or rent specific premises or have to quit your current job entirely, it is more than possible to get any company off the ground with very limited funds.

Even when it comes to marketing the company, an area which usually sucks a huge proportion of a budget, there are many ways to find yourself spending far less as you get your company off the ground. For instance, holding specific promotional events and giving the attendees specific promotional products is a great way to not only spread your name, but also to do so at low cost.

Promotional items can be a far more successful way to make sure people remember you as not only will they be grateful to any company who gives them something for free but, if the items you choose are well designed, good quality and a necessity to your target demographic, they will also have these promotional products on hand for a long time to come. In turn, they will constantly be reminded of your presence, so not only do you end up saving money, but also have a far longer grasp on that target market than you will with just an advert in a paper.

On top of promotional items, taking flyers door to door is a cheap and direct way to market an audience, and again can cost very little more than the time it takes for you yourself to do it.
