Over the last couple of decades children have become the target of multimillion pound marketing campaigns and the investment has paid off in style. The amount of toys and gadgets that find their way into children’s lives, and bedrooms or playrooms, is phenomenal. As parents we have become an easy target feeling that our children must have all the latest toys and computer games or they will in some way be neglected. It seems that women have stopped believing that the right soap powder will make their family perfect but parents have not worked out that the right toys will not change their children’s lives.

With all the things we buy for the children comes the fact that we need somewhere, other than the floor, to put everything. At BiGDUG we have a range of wooden shelving racks and bookcases that offer the perfect storage solution for children’s games, toys and even books. Cupboards are not the best solution, they may hide everything out of sight but the whole point of children’s playthings is that they are age specific. This means that if they are hidden away the child will play with something they can see and by the time the toy sees daylight again the child may well have outgrown it.

By putting a child’s belongings onto shelves they can be seen and are easily accessible. Of course small things, like Lego for example, can be put into plastic boxes and stored on the bottom shelf where the contents can still be seen by even the smallest child. Our wooden shelving system can be added to when needed so matching extra storage is easy to achieve. One of the best things about using wooden shelves for storage is that they will still be used when your toddler is a teenager.
